Product Designer
Own the end-to-end experience across Nilo's creation tools, player journeys, and shared platform systems.
About Nilo
Nilo is a collaborative platform designed to empower creative expression in 3D content across desktop, mobile, Discord, and Telegram. Nilo helps the next generation of creators generate 3D assets, characters, code, and animations directly from text or images, lowering the barrier to entry for 3D creation.
You will be joining a world-class team with experience from Fortnite, Fable, Star Wars, Warcraft, and Adobe. Our founder led the Unreal Engine 5 optimization team and was the first engineer at Polystream through to acquisition. Others on the team helped scale VRChat from zero to 100,000 users and raised over $100 million, and built creative tools used by more than 26 million people at Adobe. Nilo is an alumnus of a16z Speedrun and recently closed its seed round with backing from Supercell Investments, Flex Capital, KFund, Script Capital, and a group of world-renowned angel investors. We are builders, designers, and game-makers creating a new category for the next generation of 3D creators.
The role
We are looking for a Product Designer to own the end-to-end experience across Nilo's creation tools, player journeys, and shared platform systems. You will design how people arrive, create, play, collaborate, publish, and return. This includes everything from AI-assisted world building and complex 3D editing workflows to onboarding, discovery, multiplayer participation, accounts, permissions, subscriptions, and trust and safety. This role is ideal for a highly versatile product designer who can move comfortably between product strategy, systems thinking, interaction design, prototyping, and visual execution. You should enjoy simplifying technically complex workflows while maintaining enough depth for users to grow from curious first-time players into confident creators.
You will have an outsized impact by
- Owning Nilo's product experience from early problem definition through shipped implementation.
- Designing AI-assisted workflows for generating assets, building worlds, editing scenes, creating interactions, and publishing projects.
- Defining how conversational AI, direct manipulation, contextual guidance, and traditional creative tools work together.
- Creating approachable mental models for objects, assets, scenes, properties, behaviors, code, and other game-development concepts.
- Designing onboarding, world discovery, shared-link landing pages, game launch, multiplayer participation, and returning-user experiences.
- Building social systems for invitations, presence, profiles, identity, collaboration, recognition, and player-to-creator journeys.
- Building functional prototypes that communicate spatial, responsive, animated, and stateful behavior.
What we are looking for
- Strong product design experience across interaction design, visual design, prototyping, information architecture, and systems thinking.
- Experience designing complex creative tools, consumer platforms, games, productivity software, or technical workflows.
- Strong judgment about product strategy, prioritization, progressive disclosure, and where design effort will have the greatest impact.
- Experience designing workflows with many states, dependencies, user types, and edge cases.
- Strong understanding of agentic workflows and interaction patterns, with the ability to make them intuitive and trustworthy.
- Experience building functional prototypes with AI coding tools such as Cursor or Claude Code.
- Ability to balance the needs of first-time users with those of people developing more advanced skills.
- Proven ability to thrive in a remote environment through proactive communication, strong ownership, and self-directed work.
Bonus points if
- Experience with game engines, 3D tools, creative software, developer tools, or multiplayer products.
- Familiarity with Roblox Studio, Minecraft, Fortnite Creative, Unity, Unreal Engine, Blender, Figma, or Discord.
- Experience designing generative AI, conversational interfaces, or AI-assisted creative workflows.
- Experience designing for children, teens, families, education, or beginner creators.
- Familiarity with 3D assets, textures, animation, physics, rigging, code, or game-development pipelines.
- Familiarity with trust and safety, moderation, privacy, or parental controls.
Why join Nilo
- You will define the product experience of a new creative platform while its foundations are still being built.
- You will shape how young people discover games, play with friends, express ideas, and become creators.
- You will have significant ownership and direct influence over product direction, design quality, and team practices.
- You will ship fast, learn directly from users, and help make powerful game-development capabilities accessible to the next generation of creators.
